Nicola gets a big shock from Jimmy as Nick Miles reprises Emmerdale role

Something tells us that the distressing times are not over for Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) in Emmerdale.

Losing her husband of sixteen years has been devastating for Nicola, as she tries to navigate life without her lover and biggest support there. But things have only got worse – with Sadie (Patsy Kensit) arriving and revealing Jimmy had been in a relationship with her for the past few years.

Nicola went on to find out that she is utterly broke and can barely even afford Jimmy’s funeral, and then learned he had sold their business for cash and has hidden the money to avoid tax. It just keeps getting worse.

But we also know a few more horrifying secrets, like the fact Sadie’s story isn’t all it is made out to be.

We know that she’s been faking images of her and Jimmy together, and we also know she’s cashless herself, having had her card declined, scammed a free lunch out of Nicola, and the fact she’s working with Robert to try and find Jimmy’s £150k. We don’t yet know what it all means, but we can hazard a guess.

Now, given that we know Sadie is likely lying through her teeth, it does beg the question whether Jimmy hid the money for good reason.

Here is where things take another turn for Nicola – as the guilt eats away at Vinny (Bradley Johnson) for causing Jimmy’s crash, he slips away from Kev (Chris Coghill) and heads to see Nicola armed with the truth.

She is stunned to hear that Vinny’s negligence cost her the father of her children and her partner of 18 years. She’s even more stunned to learn her niece Gabby (Rosie Bentham) was involved and kept quiet.

Reeling from this news, she heads straight to the pub where she traps Gabby into talking about Dawn. As Gabby starts to break down, Nicola seizes the chance to jump in and announce to the world the truth of what this pair have done.

Jimmy’s son Carl is rocked by the news. He’s already been struggling with the fear he’d be disowned now that his dad is dead, as Nicola isn’t his real mum. He’s missing Jimmy terribly and reveals he plans to make a video for the funeral. Nicola is horrified when she finds him going through voice messages on Jimmy’s laptop, fearful of what else he might uncover.

She makes an excuse to snatch it off him and have a listen herself. It all becomes a bit much for her as she hears Jimmy’s voice, but what heartbreaking new secrets will she learn?
