Lewis flees Emmerdale – and another exit might follow

If a dangerous criminal appeared in my house, sang Father and Son by Boyzone, and then announced that he’s actually my father, I too would want to get as far away from him as possible.
This is the decision Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) has made in Emmerdale, following the discovery that Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) is actually his dad.
Kev returned last week, after being told by Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) that Lewis had been kidnapped.
He was taken hostage by a woman called Kylie, who wanted the diamond necklace back that Kev had stolen from her.
After a fair bit of persuasion from Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Liam, Kev decided that his son was far more important than a piece of jewellery, and gave it back to Kylie.
Once this happened, Ross told Kev to leave and never return.
Ross proceeded to tell his little brother that he was to blame for the kidnapping, not wanting to increase the chance of Kev returning to Lewis’ life.
What Ross failed to consider is that Kev does quite literally whatever he wants. He burst back into Dale View, sang his heart out, and then told Lewis that he’s his biological father.
Unsurprisingly, Lewis wasn’t keen on Kev’s suggestion that they build a relationship. His adoptive parents have always been there for Lewis, and he didn’t understand why his real one suddenly wanted something to do with him.

Kev felt deflated in today’s episode, but was given a boost by friends Claudette and Charles Anderson (Flo Wilson and Kevin Mathurin), who both believed that Kev would be a good father.
He rocked up to Dale View and reiterated that he’d like a relationship with Lewis, but the young man still wasn’t interested. To give himself a break from the chaos that’s unfolded the past couple of days, Lewis told Kev that he was off to Cleethorpes to see his ‘actual dad’.
To make it clear that there was no possible chance of them ever creating a dynamic, Lewis told Kev that he hopes he’ll be gone from the village by the time he gets back.
Even though it looks like the father and son won’t form a connection anytime soon, that is set to change, as the ITV soap has confirmed Lewis will eventually give Kev a chance.
‘It’s going to be a learning curve for both of them. Lewis battles in his head with his adoptive parents, they gave him so much love, they have been his parents’, star Bradley Riches said.

‘Now there’s a new father figure on the scene, Lewis will worry that he’s cheating on his parents and struggle to balance it out well. He’ got to learn a lot. Kev’s got to learn a lot. Also you find out a lot about Kev’s upbringing and why he has the potential to be a good dad.
‘Because he doesn’t want to be the father that he had, which is quite night. There are lots of ups and downs and a lot of learning to do. In the long run, Kev will definitely get there!’.
Will he though? Emmerdale has also shared that the cafe will be subjected to a robbery soon, and very quickly fingers are pointed at Kev.
He denies any involvement, but what impact will this have on him and Lewis?
