Poor Lewis in devastating state in Emmerdale – as a beloved character is attacked

Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) was the only person who could save kidnapped Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) in Emmerdale – but he’s currently lying unconscious on Ross Barton’s (Michael Parr) sofa after being knocked out by him.

Seriously, what was he thinking?

The bloke with the man-bun and delightful lemon drizzle cake recipe returned yesterday after Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) told him that son Lewis had been taken.

The person holding Lewis hostage, Kylie, has told his family that he will be freed once Kev gives Penny back to her. For a while, Ross and Liam were under the impression that Penny was a woman, but Kev rocked up and confirmed that it’s actually a diamond.

He told Ross and Liam that the item is at a pawnbrokers, and Ross basically kicked him out the house and told Kev not to return until he had retrieved the necklace.

Outside though, Kev didn’t do a very good job at showing that he’s prioritising the right thing, as it was revealed that he has Kylie’s diamond, and has absolutely no intention of giving it back to her.

The trouble continued for Lewis in tonight’s episode, as he remained trapped in the room at Kylie’s house.

The young man is in a terrible state. He is in a place he doesn’t know, with a woman he doesn’t know, after being thrown into the back of a van by men in masks. On top of this, Lewis loves routine and structure within his day, and his anxiety levels have increased tenfold as a result of not being able to do the things he is used to.

Lewis began stimming in front of Kylie, something neurodivergent people often do to regulate their emotions. Surprisingly, Kylie felt bad for Lewis and wanted to try and help – but told him that she’d do anything except let him go.

Back in the village, Kev thankfully had a change of heart about keeping the necklace, as he rocked up to Dale View and spun a story about getting the item back from the pawnbrokers.

Kev was holding the key to freeing Lewis but for some reason, Ross then decided to knock him out with a vase.

Ross told a shocked Liam that they can use Kev as an insurance policy for their trade, but if you ask me, there wasn’t actually any need for that move.

Kev being out cold means Lewis is going to spend longer at Kylie’s house. What state will he be in when he’s eventually freed?
