Princess Eugenie ‘delighted’ as she takes on new role close to King Charles’ heart

Princess Eugenie has opened up about a new role close to King Charles‘ heart, and she couldn’t be more thrilled.

The 35-year-old royal has been announced as a mentor in The King’s Foundation’s newly launched “35 under 35” initiative, which celebrates young people making a difference in areas like the environment, conservation, traditional crafts and the arts.

The announcement came on May 22, with The King’s Foundation unveiling the programme to mark its 35th anniversary.

“I’m delighted to be working with this group of exceptional young people who have been selected thanks to their outstanding work in areas the King is passionate about,” Eugenie said in a statement released by the foundation.

“Given I recently celebrated my 35th birthday, it’s fitting to take part in the charity’s 35th anniversary celebrations and share my passion for art with the 35 under 35!”

Eugenie turned 35 on March 23. She has always supported environmental, artistic and social causes.

The new mentorship role puts her at the heart of a forward-thinking movement within King Charles’ charity.

The King’s Foundation aims to create better communities where people, places, and the planet exist in harmony.

Its newly formed “35 under 35” network includes young professionals from a range of fields, including nature conservation, health, architecture, textiles, horticulture, traditional arts, farming, and urbanism.

Princess Eugenie joins a roster of high-profile mentors.

These include designer Dr. Samuel Ross MBE, online historian Alice Loxton, and artist Sophie Tea.

The announcement also places Eugenie alongside notable ambassadors such as David Beckham and Sir Rod Stewart.

To mark her new role, Eugenie made a private visit to The King’s Foundation’s exhibition space at the Garrison Chapel in London last week.

Photos from the event show the princess beaming as she met with mentees and viewed a showcase of their work. She also posed for a group photo with members of the new cohort.

The Garrison Chapel is home to many of the foundation’s exhibitions.

Eugenie’s charity work

Much like King Charles, Princess Eugenie has shown her dedication to environmental advocacy. In 2018, she and husband Jack Brooksbank made headlines for hosting a plastic-free royal wedding.

Since becoming a mother, Eugenie has said she is even more driven to fight for the planet’s future.

She has also spoken at international forums about the need to protect oceans.

Eugenie’s new position is a natural extension of her existing charitable work. She is co-founder of The Anti-Slavery Collective, an organisation working to end modern slavery and human trafficking.

She also helped create Key to Freedom, a social enterprise supporting female survivors of trafficking through fashion and design.

The King’s Foundation

King Charles founded The King’s Foundation in 1990. It works to build sustainable communities and transform lives, with an emphasis on protecting and promoting nature.

Renamed after his accession in 2022, the foundation serves over 15,000 students annually through educational initiatives and supports 2,000 people through health and wellness programmes.
