With a new season of Teen Mom on the air, fans are getting to catch up with a lot of the OG cast members. This includes Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra. However, what some fans might not be happy about is that the two are putting a pause on their relationship with their daughter, Carly.

Catelynn & Tyler Struggling With Daughter Relationship
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra put their daughter Carly up for adoption 15 years ago. However, in those 15 years, the couple have struggled with the decision and have wanted to get to know their biological daughter. This is not something her family is interested in.
Catelynn said that she can’t contact Carly at all anymore. She said Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon Davis and Teresa Davis, have blocked her number. “They definitely have 100 percent closed the adoption,” Catelynn said (via E! News). “I’m still blocked and they recently told me to quit sending gifts because it was inappropriate and uncalled for, just a whole bunch of things.”
Catelynn and Tyler know they can’t form a relationship with Carly at all right now. However, they have said they have another plan of action. The two sat down with their adoption counselor, Dawn, to talk. Fans saw this when it aired on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter this past week.
While Catelynn and Tyler were frustrated about being blocked, Dawn gave them another way to look at it. “Could it be that if their opinion is different than yours and they’ve asked for space and they’ve asked for things to chill and it hasn’t happened, then is it the only alternative that they can see?” Dawn said.
What Is Catelynn & Tyler Planning Next On Teen Mom?
Dawn told Catelynn and Tyler one big problem with the situation. She said they hold a lot of power. Tyle said this isn’t true, and they have no power. That is when Dawn said they have 7.4 million Instagram followers, and those fans can make Brandon and Teresa’s lives a living hell.
“When you put it out on the public platform, on social media,” Dawn said. “I’ve read the comments. You guys have, too. You know that people just make up their own narrative.”
Catelynn said she feels the pressure to step back is only from Brandon and Teresa. She said Carly never asked for them to be shut out of her life. However, Dawn said that it isn’t fair to put that weight on a teenager.
The two finally agreed. Catelynn said she would take a “pause,” and Tyler said, “I’m taking a pause until initiation happens, not from me.”
