Emmerdale’s Kerry and Archie exposed as the police are called
Kerry Wyatt’s (Laura Norton) latest scam has been the boldest one to date in Emmerdale – ripping off her own boss using her boyfriend’s son.
In fairness to Kerry, this is Archie’s (Kai Assi) bright idea and she is merely cashing in on it. She caught Archie easily scamming Caleb Miligan (William Ash) out of £5,000 by using an AI mock-up of his daughter Steph’s voice.
Genius kid, Kerry couldn’t believe how smart he’d been. At first, she’d thought it was all a bit iffy, but it wasn’t long before the money was too alluring for her to ignore.
So now they have a taste for it and plan to squeeze him for more money. As they try again with AI Steph, Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) catches them red handed.
Kerry is left feeling awful – while Pollard isn’t one to talk about get rich quick scams, he does have a point that Kerry is taking advantage of a kid.
The penny drops for Caleb that he’s been scammed and he is mortified. How could he of all people not see it coming? Great question Caleb, you’re losing your touch. Cain would be ashamed.
Caleb is furious and vows revenge. Ruby (Beth Cordingly) points out a key detail, the scammer knew something personal about Laurel and Ross, meaning it must be someone they know.
Pollard decides he needs to call the police on Kerry, but she talks him out of it by being savvy and using his own past against him. Cornered, he instructs Archie to delete the evidence.
But there’s other evidence that they forget to hide – Kerry is already spending their winnings, and Ruby notices she has a new purse. It’s counterfeit but might be enough for Ruby to twig she’s had a sudden windfall.
But it gives Caleb an idea – he tells his new best mate Billy (Jay Kontzle) that he wants to get into the counterfeit business because this scammer has shown him he’s lost his street smarts.
The depot is the perfect site for such a scheme. Billy is reticent as Caleb offers him a cut, and Billy is later pressured into doing a drop. Caleb’s back on form!
When Jai returns, Caleb tells him about the scam and that they believe it to be someone they know.
And when Jai starts hearing Archie’s name in connection with it, he makes a devastating realisation.
He confronts Kerry and accuses her of getting his son involved in something illegal. Will she tell him what they did?
