The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated May 18. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.

A discovery made by Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) has put a stop to her plan to leave the Emmerdale village.

A couple of days ago, Caitlin learnt that she had inherited her late father’s house. She didn’t have enough money to do it up though, and took to blackmailing Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) to secure some more.

Doctor Todd told Charity to give her £10k, or she’d tell Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) that baby Leyla isn’t actually there child. Charity could only scrape £5,000 together, and tried to threaten Caitlin so she didn’t nag her for the other half.

Just before she departed, Doctor Todd had lunch with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) at The Hide. Sitting near them was Ryan Stocks (James Moore), who was busy doing some pub admin.

Manpreet got chatting to Ryan, and the conversation saw Doctor Todd discover that Charity owns half of the Woolpack. Prior to this moment, Doctor Todd was under the impression that Charity just works as a barmaid.

After being lied to, Caitlin told Charity that it will now take £100,000 to keep her secret quiet.

The wicked woman took pleasure in reminding Charity that she owes her the cash in today’s episode. As they bickered, Sarah approached and wondered why they were talking about money. Fortunately, Charity covered and said that she had accidentally damaged Doctor Todd’s car.

In her attempt to source the money quickly, Charity tried to encourage Caleb and Ruby Miligan (William Ash and Beth Cordingly) to buy the pub. Caleb knew that Charity wouldn’t suddenly want to sell up unless she was in trouble, but she refused to reveal what was troubling her.

Despite this, Caleb told Charity that he’d always be there to help her. Witnessing this conversation was Doctor Todd, who then decided to sink to another new low to remind Charity that she isn’t the one in charge here.

At Jacobs Fold, Charity came down the stairs and was horrified to find Doctor Todd in her home, holding baby Leyla.

She made a comment about how you shouldn’t leave newborn babies alone because anything can happen, and in that moment Charity really had no idea what Caitlin would do next.

Baby Leyla was handed back to Charity. It’s hard to say whether Doctor Todd was actually going to do anything with the tot, but it was a very good way for her to get the ‘you’re not capable of beating me in this battle’ message across.

Doctor Todd has given Charity one week to get the rest of the money. With such a short deadline, Charity will turn to Kim Tate (Claire King) and ask her to buy her shares of the pub – but what if Kim says no?

She’s not going to accept the deal without growing curious and wondering why Charity wants out.

Will Kim make this situation worse by saying no to Charity’s offer?
