The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated May 29. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.

Emmerdale has confirmed who the firestarter is – and they’re going to find themselves in huge danger if Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) find out.

Over the past week, the couple have desperately tried to find the person responsible for setting things on fire at Emmerdale Farm.

They had a number of suspects on their list. First was Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah), but his suspicious behaviour was down to the fact he was unhoused and sleeping in one of the barns, and therefore terrified about losing his makeshift home.

Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) also caused Aaron and Robert concern, but their innocence was proved when they were caught practicing a dance routine.

There was also Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) on the list, but he got ruled out of being the aronist due to currently being in prison.

With the firestarter being good at implementing another attack and then making a very fast run for it, the only evidence Aaron and Robert had in their attempt at identifying the culprit was that they keep wearing a dark jumper.

Concluding that Aaron and Robert were unable to excel themselves as local detectives, Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) decided to step into the role in today’s episode.

He was up on Emmerdale Farm with his binoculars. Graham doesn’t strike me as a bird watcher, which means he’s definitely got the device in his car to spy out trouble.

Unfortunately, Graham was so focused on trying to find the firestarter, he failed to spot Robert sneaking up behind him.

Robert had a shotgun in hand and concluded that he was looking at the arsonist. I can’t exactly call what happened next a heroic move from Robert as he battled the man who’s been making his life hell over the past few days, because Graham very quickly got the upper hand and took the gun.

That, and he isn’t actually the firestarter.

Graham explained that he was on the land trying to find the culprit. In Butler’s Farm a while later, he joined Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), Robert and Aaron as they tried to reach a conclusion on how to stop the person from ruining the farm.

That afternoon, Aaron returned to Wishing Well and expressed his frustration over still not resolving the matter. He told Kammy, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) that they really haven’t made a lot of progress, because the only thing they know about the firestarter is that they have a dark jumper on.

Just as the episode drew to a close though, we saw Kyle setting fire to the item of clothing, confirming that he is the arsonist.

Kyle definitely has good reason to want revenge on Aaron and Robert, the two people who forced him out of his home.

As no-one has figured out that he’s responsible, how much longer will Kyle keep setting fire to things?
