Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton ‘considering legal options’ over Prince George play
In a move to protect their family, Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly considering legal action against the new Prince George play.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have always been protective of their family’s safety and privacy. The couple share three children; Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven. While the kids have obviously been raised in the spotlight, William and Kate have tried to protect them as much as possible.
Safety fears are a huge talking point in the royal family, especially with William’s brother, Prince Harry. He has taken precautions to ensure his children don’t grow up in front of the cameras – until recently when they have began appearing on Meghan Markle’s social media. However, it seems William and Kate are now having to consider legal action after their son’s privacy has been breached big time.
Prince George play
Canadian playwright Jordan Tannahill has created a shocking play involving Prince George as a grown-up. The play which is titled Prince [bleep] (also known as Prince F) imagines an 18-year-old George – nicknamed Tips – bringing his boyfriend home to meet his royal parents.
The show premiered back in June at Playwrights Horizons. George is played by British actor John McCrea, while his fictional boyfriend, Dev, is played by Mihir Kumar. The Prince and Princess of Wales are played by African-American actor K Todd Freeman and actress Rachel Crowl.
In the play there is even a reference to Dev being “another Meghan” showing that it is really based off royal life.
The Telegraph even reported that audience members must put their phones in lockable pouches to prevent anyone taking pictures or videos as the cast appear naked in sex scenes.
Since launching, the Prince George based play has received quite a lot of backlash. But it also seems like Prince William and Kate Middleton are ready to do something about it.
Prince William and Kate Middleton consider ‘legal action’
It has been reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales are consulting legal advisors as the Prince George play sparks global outrage.
According to a senior royal insider from The National Enquirer: “This isn’t freedom of expression. It is exploitation of a minor for shock value. He is a child. Leave him alone.”
Another source close to the royal family claimed they are not happy with the show, and are looking into their options.
The source said: “King Charles has been briefed. William and Catherine are extremely distressed. They are absolutely looking at their legal options. Enough is enough.
“There are clear lines when it comes to children – especially public figures who never asked for fame. This crosses every one of them.”
It’s not just royal insiders that are angry at the play, but also fans. The topic was discussed on Reddit, where many people felt that it was completely inappropriate.
One user wrote: “Interesting concept. Really grossed out that the playwright decided to use the basis of the main character on a real person. And one who is a minor no less. Feels wrong and is giving me the ick.”
Another added: “Yeah this is… not something I feel okay about. He is eleven.”
