A star from 16 & Pregnant was recently barred from attending their own son’s funeral, according to one source. However, another member of the family has shared a different story. Since then, more details about the star’s tragic loss have also come to light.

16 & Pregnant is an MTV series that followed the lives of various pregnant girls in high school. For many, the series is known for launching the Teen Mom franchise.
One of the stars from the series recently endured the loss of their teenage son. Sources have spoken out about the story, with there even being claims that the star was unable to attend their son’s funeral.
Fans may remember Whitney Purvis after she appeared on 16 & Pregnant back in 2009. The same year, she gave birth to her son Owen Gosa Jr.. In 2014, she gave birth to her second son, River.
Earlier this month, Whitney shared the tragic news of her son Weston’s passing on Facebook. At the time, she wrote, “This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand. Oh, my baby is gone, and I don’t know what to do with myself.”

“He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child? I’m in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don’t want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can’t describe the pain I am feeling.”
“I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can’t go on without you. Rest in Peace, my angel. You are gone too soon. April 2, 2009 – June 2, 2025.”
According to TMZ, Whitney was recently barred entry to her son’s funeral, which took place last Saturday. As shared by a source, Whitney was told by Weston’s father, Weston Gosa Sr., that the service would start at 4 PM. However, when she arrived, she was told she was late, with the service starting two hours earlier. Reportedly, she was also told she wasn’t on the guest list.
Different Sources Shared Conflicting Stories Over What Happened At The Funeral
The funeral home staff allegedly told Whitney and her family to leave the property. According to the source, no one from her side of the family was allowed in.
However, Whitney’s ex shared a different story. He claimed that everyone was told that the viewing would take place a 2 PM with the service starting at 4 PM. After inviting her and warning her the guest list would be strictly monitored, he claims she arrived late at around 4:15 PM.
At that time, the service was allegedly ongoing, and the chapel doors were looked. Weston Gosa Sr. also denied the claim she Whitney wasn’t on the guest list, claiming he sent her a photo of the list proving otherwise. He also denied claims members of her family were barred from attending, saying a few had arrived at 3 PM and remained during the service. This allegedly included Whitney’s mother, as well as an aunt and uncle.
Weston Gosa Sr. also claims he and his wife Amy bought Whitney a separate urn with Weston Jr’s ashes out of compassion. Weston Jr. tragically passed on earlier this month. His death certificate listed his cause of death as natural causes.
