What is Prince Harry doing in China?

Prince Harry headed to China to give a speech on climate change, and the made a plea for things to change.

Harry spoke at the Envision 2025 Global Partner Conference about the issues of climate change. He explained that “meaningful change never comes easily”.

In his speech he said: “Climate change isn’t just an environmental challenge. It’s a critical business emergency, costing the global economy $143 billion annually.”

The Shanghai trip was for his role as founder of the Travalyst Initiative, a coalition of tourism groups committed to more green practices. He created the initiative in 2019.

Prince Harry visit slammed as ‘hypocritical’

However, Climate Party leader Ed Gemmell spoke to GB News about the duke’s decision to fly over. And he wasn’t too happy about it.

He slammed: “Let’s direct it to Prince Harry. Harry, stop being such a hypocrite. Get with the programme. If you’re going to talk about it, live it as well. Now, he shouldn’t have done that trip.”

Ed went on to brand the trip as “ridiculous” and made the point that it didn’t actually require Prince Harry to attend in person.

Meanwhile, Ed said: “He shouldn’t have got on, he could have done it on zoom. He is reported as now doing 83,000 miles a year. Which is going to take a thousand trees to offset over the course of an entire 12 months.”

King Charles issues ‘message’ in Canada throne speech

However, at the exact same time as Prince Harry speaking in China, Harry’s father, King Charles, allegedly gave a pointed message to China during his speech at the opening of Canada’s Parliament.

Charles was speaking about the challenges facing Canada, after being invited to open Parliament. He followed in his late mother Queen Elizabeth II’s footsteps, who opened Canada’s Parliament in 1957.

In the speech, written by Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government, Charles said that Canada’s capital Ottawa should “invest to strengthen its presence in the north, which is an integral part of Canada, as this region faces new threats”.

According to The Times, this was a crafted message to China.

Recently, Russian and Chinese naval forces have been trying to exert influence on the increasingly valuable region of Canada’s arctic.
