Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘professional split’ is ‘good’ for their marriage
Speculation that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making a professional split has been rife for some time now.
The couple have had a few separate projects since stepping back from senior royal duties in 2020. Most recently, Meghan launched her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. She has also launched her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder.
Later this year, a second series of With Love, Meghan will air on Netflix – part of the couple’s reported $100m five-year deal they signed with the streaming giant in 2020.
Now, a new report claims a third series could air next year. It’s the biggest sign yet that Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, are continuing to split professionally.
According to a PR expert, a “professional split” could be a “good” move for their marriage.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in ‘professional split’ amid Netflix deal
The MailOnline claims that it’s “almost certain” that Meghan’s cooking and lifestyle series will be recommissioned for a third season. It could air next year.
This is despite mixed reviews when the series launched in March.
A source told the publication: “What people do not understand about the situation is that [Netflix CEO] Ted Sarandos is a massive, massive fan of Meghan personally. He calls her ‘the rock star’. There is no way that her deal does not get renewed.
“Ted is in the Meghan business and that is not about to change. He is all in.”
Royal Insider has contacted reps for Harry and Meghan for comment.
Harry and Meghan move to ‘split professionally’ is ‘good’ for their marriage
Now, Brand and Culture Expert Nick Ede has told Royal Insider: “The news that Meghan and Harry are separating their business interests is a really good idea. This professional split really allows them to thrive.
“Like the Beckhams they can manage their own professional roles separately which will enable them to expand on what they like to do most and profit from those opportunities.”
I think its good for their marriage and allows them freedom to do what they love.
Nick continued: “It’s a good PR move for them too as it allows them to carve their own business interests and personal brand. It also allows for the media to stop comparing them as a couple and rather allows them to be seen as individuals like David and Victoria are.
“The real magic is that when they are together at events or as part of a deal their brand equity will increase. They will be sought after to appear together from time to time.”
He concluded: “I think its good for their marriage and allows them freedom to do what they love and what makes them happy and brings in the money too.”
Is Netflix still paying Harry and Meghan?
In 2020, Harry and Meghan signed a $100m deal with streaming giant Netflix. It came just months after they stepped back from royal duties to become “financially independent”.
In 2022, they launched their tell-all series Harry & Meghan. In it, they discussed their love story, their troubles within the monarchy and their relationship with the royal family.
However, the series reportedly strained the couple’s relationship with his family even further after a series of allegations.
