Princess Diana’s ‘prediction’ about son Prince William decades ago which has proven to be ‘right’
Princess Diana reportedly once made a touching prediction about her son Prince William, when he was younger.
The late Princess of Wales, who died in 1997 at the age of 36, had high hopes for her eldest son – and it seems as though he’s living up to them…
Princess Diana’s prediction about son Prince William
According to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, Princess Diana foresaw her son’s popularity.
Speaking to The Mirror recently, she recalled a conversation with Diana where the princess predicted that the country would be “lucky” to have William.
“William’s alright. The country is very lucky to have William,” Diana reportedly said.
“Clearly, William is doing something very right. His informal, approachable way of going about his work is resonating with the public,” Jennie told the publication.
“Even the way he talks is different to previous generations. He’s well spoken, of course, but not overly posh. He dresses well, of course, but is quite often wearing jeans and trainers,” she continued.
“He’ll pose for selfies with the crowds, he’ll even work the camera for them if they get flustered. I think she was bang on.”
Prince William’s popularity
It seems as though Diana was right about William, as proven by a recent poll.
The poll, hosted by YouGov, reported that William is one of the most popular royals, with 75% of Brits viewing him in a positive light.
The same is true across the pond. Another poll from YouGov, this one aimed at the American audience, found that they view him positively too. In fact, William is the most popular living royal in America, with a 63% popularity rating.
William is the ‘epitome of professionalism’
A body language expert summed William up brilliantly recently, whilst discussing the Prince of Wales’ appearance at the FA Cup final.
Though visibly disappointed that his own team, Aston Villa, hadn’t made it to the final, William still displayed his usual warmth and professionalism during the engagement.
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, body language expert Darren Stanton said: “The thing with William is that he always remains professional in these situations – he’s always the epitome of professionalism.”
“Even though his team didn’t make it to the final, he puts his royal duties first and genuinely enjoys connecting with people. Wherever he goes, he dresses appropriately to fit in and puts others at ease,” he continued.
“He definitely doesn’t have an ego, even though he’s the future king. Overall, while he did show some signs of slight disappointment earlier in the day, his expressions clearly changed – he seemed genuinely happy to be there and to take it all in.”
What was the relationship between William and Diana?
Prince William had a close bond with his mother growing up, and was actually a close confidante for Diana.
Royal expert Robert Jobson revealed in his book, William at 40: The Making of a Modern Monarch, that the young prince wanted to be a police officer when he grew up so he could “protect” his mother.
“Part of the reason William was so keen to protect his mother was because she regularly sought him out for emotional support as her eldest child,” Jobson wrote.
