Moment Kate Middleton ‘turned away’ amid Queen Camilla’s ‘stern pep talk’ at Trooping the Colour
Kate Middleton once “turned away” from Queen Camilla during a “stern pep talk” at a royal event, according to an expert.
The incident happened back in 2023 during Trooping the Colour.
The annual royal event happens every June, with the 2025 ceremony taking place on Saturday June 14.

Kate Middleton ‘turned away’ amid Camilla’s ‘pep talk’ at Trooping the Colour
Back in 2023, Kate, Camilla and the rest of the royal family were in attendance for Charles’ first Trooping the Colour as king.
During the parade, the king rode a horse called Noble. He was the first monarch to ride a horse at the parade for 37 years.
Kate took one glance at the conversation and turned her head away, clearly not wanting to get involved.
His son Prince William, brother Prince Edward and sister Princess Anne were also riding alongside him. Meanwhile, Kate and Camilla watched from the sidelines.
After riding in the parade, the royals on horseback lined up alongside Kate and Camilla.
However, at one point, Charles seemed to be having some issues with his excitable steed, leading to Camilla giving him a “stern pep talk”.
Queen Camilla’s ‘pep talk’ to King Charles
Speaking to The Mirror at the time, body language expert Judi James said: “Trooping the Colour might have been slightly marred by the rather frisky horse that Charles seemed to be struggling with and which meant he rarely achieved the same kind of formal mounted pose that his son and siblings achieved riding behind him to the parade ground.
“While William and Edward sat bolt upright on their very calm horses, with right arms rigid at their sides, Charles frequently needed two hands on the reins and a series of pats that increased in intensity as his horse needed steering and correcting throughout the ride to the parade ground.”
“The king seemed to be complaining again to Camilla once he arrived beside the rostrum where she was standing, meaning instead of offering a smile of pride and support her body language suggested she was giving a rather stern-looking pep talk than involved frowning and some firm-looking head baton nods. Kate took one glance at the conversation and turned her head away, clearly not wanting to get involved,” she then added.
Does Kate get along with Camilla?
According to one royal expert, Camilla and Kate didn’t get on too much when they first met.
Speaking on Channel 5’s The Middletons: Modern Royal-in-laws, royal expert Tom Quinn said: “I’d heard that Camilla wasn’t very keen on Catherine. She didn’t shoot, she’s not into horses particularly, there was too much of a gap and William would feel it. But I think it’s true to say that Camilla later warmed to Caterine and recognised her solid virtues.”
However, it seems now they share a very close bond.
Royal expert Angela Levin also once said on GB News: “Camilla gets on very, very well with Catherine and helped her to understand the way you needed to be in the palace because it’s very difficult.”
