Biggest sign yet that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are ‘splitting professionally’

There’s been speculation that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making a professional split for some time now.

The couple have had a few separate projects since stepping back from senior royal duties in 2020. Most recently, Meghan launched her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, and also her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder.

Later this year, a second series of With Love, Meghan will air on Netflix – part of the couple’s reported $100m five-year deal they signed with the streaming giant in 2020.

Now, a new report claims a third series could air next year – the biggest sign yet that Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, are continuing to split professionally.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in ‘professional split’ amid Netflix deal

The MailOnline claims that it’s “almost certain” that Meghan’s cooking and lifestyle series will be recommissioned for a third season, to be shown next year.

This is despite mixed reviews when the series launched in March.

A source told the publication: “What people do not understand about the situation is that [Netflix CEO] Ted Sarandos is a massive, massive fan of Meghan personally. He calls her ‘the rock star’. There is no way that her deal does not get renewed.

“Ted is in the Meghan business and that is not about to change. He is all in.”

Royal Insider has contacted reps for Harry and Meghan for comment.

Is Netflix still paying Harry and Meghan?

In 2020, Harry and Meghan signed a $100m deal with streaming giant Netflix. It came just months after they stepped back from royal duties to become “financially independent”.

In 2022, they launched their tell-all series Harry & Meghan in which they discussed their love story, their troubles within the monarchy and their relationship with the royal family.

There is no way that her deal does not get renewed.

However, the series reportedly strained the couple’s relationship with his family even further after a series of allegations.

Harry and Meghan’s deal was for five years, so will likely end this year unless Netflix renews the contract – something that hasn’t yet been confirmed.

What Harry and Meghan have done since quitting royal duties

This year has seen Prince Harry and Meghan embark on different paths when it comes to their careers.

Meghan launched her eight-part series With Love, Meghan in March. She then launched her podcast in April. Later this year, another series of her Netflix show will air.

Meanwhile, Harry focused on his Invictus Games – which he launched in 2014 – earlier this year. He has also been busy appealing for his and his family’s security in the UK.

When they stepped back from duties and moved to the US, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s taxpayer-funded security in Britain was downgraded.

It’s now decided on a case-by-case basis – something Harry wasn’t happy with and appealed the decision. In May, Harry lost the appeal.

In an interview with the BBC after his court defeat, Harry said: “I can’t see a world in which I will be bringing my wife and children back to the UK.”

He then said he’d love a reconciliation with his family.
