Prince William’s ‘disgust’ over brother Harry being ‘entitled to big royal inheritance’
Prince William was reportedly left “disgusted” that his younger brother Prince Harry allegedly received an inheritance of “millions” from their late great-grandmother.
According to a report in Closer last year, the heir to throne made it be known he felt it was a “rotten situation” the Duke of Sussex might receive a huge sum “without lifting a finger for it”.
What’s more, the magazine claimed – ahead of Prince Harry’s 40th birthday in September 2024 – that King Charles’ second son could receive more than Prince William in a trust fund set up by the Queen Mother, who died in March 2002 aged 101.
Prince William ‘disgusted’ over Harry inheritance
Last August, reports claimed that Prince Harry would be entitled to a share of a trust fund said to total £14 million ($18m) when he turned 40 the next month.
Citing a Mirror article from April 2024, the report added the Queen Mother ensured a larger financial gift would be bestowed on Prince Harry than his brother.
At the time of The Queen Mother’s death in 2002, the BBC also reported that Harry would receive more.
That’s because, it was claimed, Prince William was – and still is – expected to be monarch in the future. But until then, as Prince of Wales, he would receive a massive income from the Duchy of Cornwall. When William does become king, he’ll also benefit financially.
However, Closer also quoted an unnamed source as claiming Prince William was not happy about the situation.
“William’s pretty disgusted that once again Harry’s going to be cashing out and taking millions back to his Montecito home without lifting a finger for it,” the insider is said to have told the publication.
If it were up to him, Harry would not be getting this payday.
“There’s nothing he can do about it, aside from shaking his head. But if it were up to him, Harry would not be getting this payday.”
The Queen Mother ‘left great-grandchildren inheritance’
Furthermore, the source went on to indicate William felt “bitter” over the alleged matter.
They are said to have continued: “William doesn’t think his brother is in any position to be getting this handout. And he’s letting it be known that he thinks it’s a pretty rotten situation.”
Additionally, it was claimed: “William and Kate don’t trust Harry or Meghan one bit. So the idea that Harry’s now cashing in on his great-Granny’s inheritance leaves a very bitter taste in their mouths.”
As well as receiving vast wealth from the Queen Mother, the princes are also reported to have gained access to up to a combined £20million ($26m) from their late mother, Princess Diana, in their twenties.
And according to reports, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle may be worth up to $60 million. It is believed his net worth may have doubled since 2017.
