Princess Beatrice and Eugenie’s roles within royal family ‘could change’ when Prince William is king
Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice could be set for a new role in the future – but it all comes down to Prince William’s decision.
Eugenie, 35, and Beatrice, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, built their careers in a different way than others within the royal family.
Despite being King Charles’ nieces, both sisters are not full-time working royals. This means they are not funded by the taxpayer. While this has been their role for quite some time, everything could change once William becomes king.

Princess Eugenie and Beatrice set for new role
Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, 36, have created careers of their own. However, they still do occasionally take on some royal duties.
Both Beatrice and Eugenie consistently carry out charity work – something which is a huge part of all the royal family members.
Earlier this week Eugenie attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace. An insider thinks this is the beginning of her accepting new roles. And when Prince William becomes king, he could make it permanent.
Royal commentator Richard Eden shared his thoughts. He penned: “Beatrice and Eugenie are non-working members of the royal family, who are not funded by the taxpayer. Royal sources tell me that, with a smaller family after Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020, that may change in time.”
Richard explained that a royal courtier allegedly told him: “Although Prince William still believes in a slimmed-down monarchy, he is increasingly aware of his extended family.”
When William becomes king in the future, this means he will have another big decision on his hands. If he feels like the family would benefit from having more full-time working royals, then both Eugenie and Beatrice could find themselves having a career change.

How would this affect Eugenie and Beatrice?
Back in 2002, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh quit their day jobs to become full-time working royals. And this is believed to have set a precedent which could impact Beatrice and Eugenie’s futures.
At the time, the now Duke of Edinburgh explained: “It is quite obvious that in this year, the Golden Jubilee, we are required more than ever to support the queen and to help my family shoulder some of the increasing responsibilities and workload into the future.”
By stepping down from their day jobs completely, this indicates that Princess Eugenie and Beatrice would be expected to do the same for their new role.
At the moment, Princess Eugenie is a philanthropist and art director at Hauser and Wirth – an art gallery in Mayfair, London. Princess Beatrice, on the other hand, is Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Afiniti.
While the sisters have made their own career separate from the royal family, William’s decision could seriously impact their future.
Richard Eden said that he thinks having them as full-time royals would “benefit the monarchy”.
He also believes Eugenie and Beatrice will have “a big role to play” for the family.
