Another Emmerdale exit as star set to leave 6 years after debut
Emmerdale star Rachael Gill-Davis is reportedly set to leave two years after joining the ITV soap as a full time cast member and six years after her debut.
The actress portrays Woolpack barmaid Gail Loman, who first appeared on our screens back in 2019 when she was introduced as an old friend of Ryan Stocks (James Moore).
Gail arrived in the village just shortly after Ryan’s date with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) went awry and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was immediately won over by her.
As part of a plan to keep Ryan away from Dawn, Gail kissed him in front of her. The character remained offscreen for four years before returning in a full time capacity in 2023.
This time around, Gail and Ryan embarked on a romance and it was revealed that when they were previously romantically involved, Gail gave birth to a child named Oscar, who she gave up for adoption.
Oscar, who was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, got in touch with Gail, who ultimately told Ryan about his son. They subsequently got tested to see if they were a match for a bone marrow transplant.
The couple have been living in the Woolpack together for quite some time now but it seems trouble could be around the corner, with Gail reportedly set to exit in upcoming scenes.
‘Rachael [who plays Gail] has loved her time on the show but it’s time to go,’ a source told The Sun.
‘Bosses felt the character wasn’t inspiring much story and so it was all very amicable. The door has been left open but it’s a definite goodbye for now.
‘Rachael is looking forward to spreading her wings and showing off her talents on other shows.’
Metro has reached out to Emmerdale for comment.
Last year, Rachael asked fans not to boycott Netflix series KAOS after scenes she filmed for the show were cut.
‘‘Hi guys, so I’ve got a bit of bad news unfortunately,’ she said on her Instagram stories in September. ‘Last week I found out I’ve been cut from KAOS, that’s coming out today.
‘‘She didn’t make it to the edit so for everybody that has been waiting for me to deliver you know those two lines that I had, in a short skirt, it’s unfortunately not going to happen.’
She added: ‘I think what I’m asking is, I don’t want you to boycott the show. It comes out today, I got to read all eight scripts, I got to try on Jennifer Saunders’ shoe from Ab Fab so all is not lost!”
Gail will join a string list of Emmerdale characters that have left the show in recent weeks, including Amy Wyatt, Leyla Harding and Suzy Merton, who were all killed in a limo crash.
