Emmerdale confirms unexpected Tom King twist after arrest – and the nightmare is just beginning
Tom King (James Chase) might finally be in a prison cell but he isn’t planning on going down without a fight, as he instructed his solicitor Ollie to move to Operation Plan B in the wake of his arrest.
The abuser, as viewers know, was finally apprehended this week when evidence was recovered from his destroyed tablet which corroborated Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) reports of abuse.
The scales fell from the eyes of both Jimmy (Nick Miles) and Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell), who had ardently defended manipulator Tom, believing him to be innocent.
Fearing his grip was weakening, Tom attempted to gaslight the pair of them into believing his lies once again but this time it was no use. Jimmy and Amelia had finally seen him for who he is.
Knowing that he’d likely be convicted during trial, Tom made arrangements to flee the country but Belle played a blinder, planting her phone in his rucksack and notifying the police, who were able to track the device.
Tom was arrested for breaking his bail conditions and was therefore denied bail this time around, meaning that he went straight to jail.
Friday’s offering of the ITV soap saw him struggle to adjust to his new home behind bars and he called Ollie and ordered him to do whatever it takes to get him out – resorting to blackmail to get his own way.
Tom made it quite clear that he wanted Amelia to come visit, hoping to use both her and Esther in court so that the jury can be manipulated into thinking he’s not a bad guy.
Ollie, however, struggled to get in touch with Amelia, who wasn’t returning his calls as she felt guilty over not believing Belle, now fully aware of just how sinister Tom truly is.
But Tom is not giving up, telling Ollie that Belle might think this is over but that, in reality, the ‘nightmare’ is only just beginning.
Just what does he have up his sleeve?
