What happened between Nick and Hannah on ‘Love Is Blind’? What they’ve shared about their breakup

When Nick Dorka and Hannah Jiles first met in the “Love Is Blind” Season 7 dating pods, they connected as the youngest man and woman in the cast.

Soon enough, their banter graduated to a more meaningful connection.

As they were getting to know each other, two major obstacles stood in the way of their budding relationship: Hannah’s feelings for her castmate Leo and her concerns about Nick being more smooth than genuine.

However, they decided to give love a try and got engaged. What came next? We’re recapping the ups and downs of their love journey, and what they said about it.

What happened between Hannah and Nick in the pods?

Nick put on the charm from the get go and Hannah was smitten. He described himself as the “less buff version” of Henry Cavill and Hannah came up with an appropriate nickname for him: Mr. Suave.

Several of Hannah’s castmates warned her that Nick was too smooth, but she was determined to make her own decision.

When Nick asked Hannah if she’d brought any cute bathing suits along, she suggested that Nick only liked her because he assumed she was attractive.

After letting Nick know that she had a “stronger” connection with another cast member, Hannah called it quits with Nick. Before Nick had the chance to go home, Hannah reversed course and decided to give their relationship another try.

In an interview with TODAY.com, Nick called his initial breakup with Hannah “tough” but said he knew things would work out in the end.

“I knew that wasn’t going to be the last conversation we had, and thankfully, we both kind of took some time and thought about it. I always knew I was going to give her a second chance, so I’m glad she came around too,” he said.

As Hannah opened up to Nick about her struggles with body image, he reassured her that he “didn’t care” what she looked like.

When Hannah told Leo she was all-in on Nick, Leo wasn’t exactly thrilled. He tried to convince her to be with him. On their next date, Hannah and Leo decided they weren’t right for each other.

What happened between Nick and Hannah in Mexico?

Nick proposed to Hannah and they prepared to meet in person for the first time. Hannah was nervous that Nick would be “super tiny” and that he wouldn’t “like what he sees” when he laid eyes on her.

Nick called Hannah “absolutely beautiful” when they met, but she shared her mixed feelings about his appearance in a confessional interview, saying she felt “insecure” because she was “bigger than him.”

While they were vacationing in Mexico together, Hannah told producers it was “shocking” to see what Nick looked like since he described himself “in a way that was different from what he is.” However, Hannah said she was “physically attracted” to Nick.

Nick then gave Hannah “the ick” when he saw a row of fake ducks on the beach and felt the urge to “take one for a ride.” Afterwards, she wrote a list of his flaws and accidentally left it on her bedside table. While talking with TODAY.com, Nick described how it felt to find the note.

“I feel like she she misjudged me a little bit, but she also knew exactly who I was from spending that much time with me,” he said.

Things got tricky when Nick and Hannah moved in together

After Nick and Hannah moved in together, things started to get real. Hannah expressed concerns about Nick’s maturity level, particularly his ability to take care of their living space and pay bills since he was used to living at home with his mom and dad.

“I’m so independent. It’s my way or the highway,” she said during one of their first conversations in their new living space.

Hannah led the charge when it came to talking about the division of household chores. When she opened up the conversation about finances, Nick said they could “play it by ear” and figure out who would pay what later on.

Hannah promptly said she wanted to create a plan on how they would handle costs and explained that she’s been on her own financially since she was 18. Nick said he didn’t know as much about money as his fiancée did.

During one of their dates, Nick told Hannah she sometimes made him feel like he was “a level below” her. She said she didn’t mean to do that but said it “frustrated” her that he doesn’t know how to do things she thought a 28-year-old should.

“I think you get treated as an equal when you star contributing like an equal,” she said.

At a cast party, Hannah told her friends she was “overcritical” of Nick but “working on it.” She also expressed frustration over their dynamic in bed and noted that Nick wasn’t “sexually explorative.”

Why did Hannah and Nick break up?

When they got home from the cast party, Nick and Hannah started fighting. Hannah was curious to know what he’d talked about with Katie, a castmate with whom she’d grown close.

In the pods, Nick and Katie had a connection, so Hannah was concerned about their conversation, especially since Katie kept saying how “hot” Nick was.

Hannah lashed out at Nick saying, “Are you mature enough, Nick? Because I’ve taught you f—— everything that you f—— know. I’ve turned you from a boy into a f——man.”

Things calmed down but when Nick met with a few of Hannah’s friends, Hannah expressed concerns about Nick’s maturity level and his ability to take care of her.

On the day she was supposed to go wedding dress shopping, Hannah opted out of the activity. Instead, she and Nick had a fight and broke up. Recalling the list of flaws she’d previously written about him, she said those concerns still exist.

Nick told Hannah she was “demeaning.”

“We’re not equals here. It doesn’t feel that way. You think I can’t take care of myself for some reason. You think I can’t take care of you. I can’t take care of anything,” he said.

Nick said Hannah was too hard on him and she said she had been “trying” to make their relationship work but said it was time for her to “see this for what it is.”

Hannah said Nick wanted to come up with a game plan when she told him she wasn’t going to try on wedding dresses because he didn’t want to “look bad.”

In a confessional interview, Hannah said, “I feel very manipulated and I feel very weak. I feel like he was so worried about how his friends, his family and everybody views him and how bad he was going to look instead of actually trying to focus on being here with me and being open and honest.”

When Hannah said they would not get married, Nick said it felt like “one of the worst feelings of my life.” He continued, “Maybe I could’ve done a better job.”

In a confessional interview, he said, “I didn’t have any ulterior motives coming into this other than getting married and finding love. I wish we could’ve experienced these next couple days together. I was willing to give it my all until the last possible second and then make that decision. But she felt that if she kept going, I would say no at the altar. I would never have done that.”

What have Nick and Hannah said since the show came out?

In an interview with People, Hannah explained what led to her decision to break up with Nick.

“I think for me, it just came down to: I saw my friends (with him), my family was there, and I just had a moment where I was kind of like, what am I doing?” she said. “If I’m still seeing all these issues and I’m just being mean to this man, I feel like I’m just dogging on this man, this is probably not someone that I want to be married to. It just all came to (this) realization, we shouldn’t be together.”

While appearing on an episode of “The Viall Files,“ Hannah said that the way she spoke to Nick during the dating experiment was harsh at times.

“I’ve learned a lot, I’ve learned there’s things I need to work on,” she said. “For example, I am a very direct person. I know that but I think my delivery is rough. And I’ve learned that delivery is everything.”

Meanwhile, Nick has addressed a few of the viral moments of the season. He addressed saying that he looked like Cavill and that he was better looking than Kelce.

“So I’ll change the Henry Cavill (comparison) to JJ Redick, basketball player,” he told Us Weekly. “And then better looking than Travis? I just like joking around. … But I am better looking than him. I’ll stand by it.”
