Angel Reese Shuts Down Controversy With Strong Statement
WNBA star Angel Reese recently took to social media, reacting to a fan’s post about her offseason ventures.
One fan posted a picture of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown while he was training during the NBA offseason. In the photo, Brown is gripping a basketball, while holding a 40-pound dumbbell in his other hand while underwater in a pool.
The fan suggested that people are expecting Reese to have similar training regimens, while laughing at the outlandish presumptions on social media.
“How they expect AR to be every hour of her day,” posted one fan with the picture of Brown training underwater.
Reese then responded to the photo, commenting on some fans’ belief that she’s not working on her game during the offseason.
“if it ain’t on camera i guess it ain’t happening,” Reese said.
Reese has had a hectic couple of weeks outside of the basketball court, leaving fans to question her commitment to the game.
She’s posted photos at a Chicago Bears game and Baltimore Ravens game, and has also spent time working on her podcast “Unapologetically Angel.”
Her time away from the court has led to fan reactions like the ones listed.
“Angel Reese has no plans on doing the Mikan drill this offseason,” said one fan.
“If it’s not on camera, it’s not happening,” said another fan.
“Layup drills plz !!!” commented one fan.
“I mean you put EVERYTHING else on camera…” said one fan.
“We gone see,” said another fan.
“Angel, do you ever get off twitter?” questioned one fan.
Despite some backlash, Reese is currently rehabbing after a season-ending wrist surgery, which she had done a few weeks ago.
During her rookie year with the Sky, Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. She was the only rookie to average a double-double and led the WNBA in average rebounds.
While the first-year star missed a handful of regular season games, due to injury, she was still able to accomplish some incredible feats in her rookie season.
The 22-year-old was named to the WNBA All-Star team and finished the year at No. 2 in Rookie of the Year voting behind Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
