Criminal Minds remains one of the best crime series ever made, renowned for its dark and complex cases and its talented cast. Mandy Patinkin, though only appearing in two seasons, left a lasting impression with his role as Jason Gideon, a founding agent of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) at the FBI. His character was a brilliant profiler, yet deeply conflicted, haunted by failures and the personal cost of his work.

After leaving Criminal Minds, Patinkin continued to shine in Hulu’s short-lived crime series Death and Other Details. In the role of Rufus Cotesworth, a cunning detective, he captivated audiences with his complex personality and surprising plot twists. The story centers on the investigation of the murder of Imogene Scott’s mother, a mysterious young woman. The relationship between Cotesworth and Imogene becomes a major highlight, filled with tension and intrigue.

Though Death and Other Details only lasted one season and didn’t achieve great success, Patinkin’s performance stood out. His character Rufus Cotesworth was the perfect blend of his previous roles — a brilliant, ambitious, yet troubled detective. The show also brought a fresh perspective to the crime genre, focusing not only on solving the case but also on the personal struggles of the characters.

Unfortunately, Hulu canceled Death and Other Details after the first season, but Patinkin’s loyal fans still consider this role a memorable highlight in his career, on par with Criminal Minds.
