It is considered a new beginning for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who traded the dusty life of the British royal family for the glitzy urban life of Los Angeles, surrounded by superstars: In early 2020, the Sussexes abruptly parted ways with the British royal family and relocated to the West Coast of the United States, where Harry and Meghan have lived ever since, nearly five years later, in Montecito.

During the separation, the youngest son of King Charles III and his wife completed their royal duties – for Prince Harry, this essentially broke what had previously dictated his everyday life as a full-time royal. Instead, the Duke of Sussex suddenly had so much free time in his day that he could fully dedicate himself to a campaign of royal revenge, unleashing one bitter accusation after another on every possible platform. However, Prince Harry’s ongoing struggle with his royal family over the years since Megxit and his apparent lack of any other purpose in life are said to be driving his wife, Meghan Markle, crazy with frustration.

At least one royal expert, well-known for covering the British court, represents this view: Jennie Bond, a longtime BBC reporter who knows the royal family inside and out. Jennie Bond has now explained to “OK! Magazine” the emotional dilemma Prince Harry and Meghan Markle currently find themselves in. Shortly before his 40th birthday, the Duke of Sussex is said to often lament the past, and as a former friend from Harry’s circle recently revealed, he misses the love and affection he once received as a full-time royal.

According to Jennie Bond, Meghan Markle faces a monumental task if she wants to save her husband Harry from the spiral of his sadness:

・”I think it would be a healthy step for Meghan to encourage Harry to leave the past behind and look forward. They made their decision, they are no longer full-time royals and have left the UK.” ・”Harry has now stated that he considers the United States his home – at least for the time being.”

・”Continuing to sulk over past injustices and letting old grudges fester is a waste of life, and I think Meghan sees that too.”

Meghan Markle’s Advantage
However, the royal expert also pointed out that Meghan Markle has an undeniable advantage over her husband when it comes to starting fresh away from the royal family:

・”One must remember that she doesn’t have to wrestle with anxious thoughts about a previous life confined within the tight boundaries of the royal family. For her, it’s easier to look forward as she now lives in a country whose customs she knows well and clearly loves. Harry, however, said that he would like to be reunited with his family, so he will inevitably dwell on what happened and how things reached this point.” ・”That is guaranteed to be frustrating for Meghan, who herself doesn’t seem to mind being estranged from her own family. I don’t think Harry constantly pines for the past, but the Harry I knew was someone who had a lot of fun with his family. In his memoirs, he wrote down some of those memories, and it’s only natural that he misses that connection now and may still be thinking about how to mend the rift after these past years.”

・”Meghan, in any case, seems to have very decisively and definitively closed the chapter on her short time as a royal – of course, except for the Duchess title and the benefits that come with it.”
