Did Prince Harry only learn about King Charles’ hospitalization through the news?
Prince Harry (40), Meghan Markle (43), and their son Archie (5) have been living in the United States for exactly five years, and their daughter Lilibet (3) was also born there. However, the distance between Harry and the British royal family has only grown wider over time—not just geographically. He is now nearly 9,000 km away from his father, King Charles III (76), his brother Prince William (42), and his sister-in-law Princess Kate (43).
King Charles Admitted to Hospital – The Palace Reportedly Did Not Inform Prince Harry Directly
But it’s not just physical distance that separates the family. Ever since Prince Harry left the UK with Meghan, new revelations have continued to stir controversy. In December 2022, Netflix released the documentary Harry & Meghan, followed by the explosive Oprah Winfrey (71) interview and Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare. Since then, the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry, in particular, has been considered beyond repair.
Last Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced troubling news—King Charles III, who is battling cancer, had to be hospitalized again. Although he was discharged later that evening, the cancellation of scheduled engagements indicated that his health remains fragile. Despite the tensions, this news was likely to cause concern for Prince Harry. However, according to The Daily Mail, the palace reportedly chose not to inform him personally about his father’s hospitalization.
Like Princess Kate: Harry and Meghan Had to Rely on the Media for Information
Instead, Buckingham Palace stated that Prince Harry only learned through news reports that King Charles’ ongoing cancer treatment had resulted in “a short hospital stay for observation.” This was undoubtedly a major snub for Harry, who is believed to have last seen his father during a brief visit to London in February 2024.
Additionally, this situation is likely to reopen old wounds for the Sussexes. When Princess Kate publicly revealed her diagnosis in March 2024, Harry and Meghan reportedly only learned about her cancer through Kate’s emotional video, according to The Times UK. At the time, their official response was notably restrained: “We wish Kate and her family health and a speedy recovery, and we hope they can navigate this privately and in peace.”
