Queen Camilla says King Charles is ‘doing very well’ amid cancer treatment as she makes hospital visit
King Charles is “doing very well” amid his cancer treatment as his wife Queen Camilla shared a health update today.
The monarch, 75, is undergoing treatment for a disclosed type of cancer. The King had shared his diagnosis in February. It came after he underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate.
Camilla, 77, was out in Bath on Tuesday (September 3) and she was asked how her husband’s doing.
Camilla visited the Royal United Hospitals in Bath to open the new Dyson Cancer Centre.
She also met patients who are undergoing chemotherapy. A Macmillan Cancer Support worker asked Camilla how Charles is doing amid his treatment.
Yes, he is doing very well.
Camilla said: “Yes, he is doing very well.”
The King’s cancer diagnosis was made public in February this year. A statement from Buckingham Palace read at the time: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
It added: “The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
Princess of Wales cancer
Meanwhile, in March, his daughter-in-law Kate, Princess of Wales, shared her cancer diagnosis. She has also been undergoing treatment since then.
In a video message shared to social media at the time, Kate said: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
William and Kate have three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
Meanwhile, during a royal engagement last week, the King offered an update on his health.
When asked how he was doing, he replied: “I’m not too bad.”
