Has Angel Reese Suddenly Been Forgotten? Fans Shift Their Attention to the New Co-Host on ‘Unapologetically Show’!

Chicago Sky's Angel Reese waits for play to resume during a WNBA...

This historic WNBA season kicked off in April with the most-watched draft in league history, drawing an impressive 2.4 million viewers-a 307% increase compared to last year. Since then, the league has shattered records in TV ratings, filled arenas to capacity, boosted merchandise sales, and seen a significant rise in social media engagement. Much of this success can be attributed to the impact of Caitlin Clark joining the Indiana Fever (15-16) and Angel Reese with the Chicago Sky. While Clark has been a major draw, Reese, with her more sociable and charismatic presence, has also captured the attention of fans and the media.

Angel Reese, who is averaging 13.5 points and leads the league with 12.9 rebounds per game this season, announced yesterday the launch of her new podcast, “Unapologetically Angel.” She’ll be co-hosting with Maya Reese, who has no relation with Angel, a seasoned content creator with experience at top sports outlets like CBS, NBC Sports, Overtime, and SB Nation. Maya has won seven awards for her content, bringing expertise to the show, which is expected to attract high-profile guests thanks to Angel’s growing popularity.

The podcast will air weekly on Thursdays as part of Shaquille O’Neal’s“The Big Podcast Network” under Playmaker HQ. Given Shaq’s and Angel’s shared LSU background and their prowess in rebounding, their relationship seems like a natural fit. Angel has already teased that rappers Meg the Stallion and Cardi B will be among the guests on the show, which premieres next Thursday, September 5th-the same day the new NFL season kicks off. I think this podcast it’s an excellent way to keep attracting fans to the WNBA, which is growing at a rampant rate and let’s hope it continues to do so for the good of women’s sports.

Chicago Sky faces a tough stretch ahead, having won only one of their last five games and just three of their last ten. Currently sitting in the eighth and final playoff spot, they’re up against the Washington Mystics, who, if victorious, would boost Atlanta Dream’s playoff dreams, lol, as they are just one game behind. To make matters worse, Chicago will face the Indiana Fever tomorrow, a team also vying for a playoff spot. The Fever lead the season series 2-1 and have been in better form this month. The final ten games of the season will be crucial for Chicago, as they must secure wins to keep their playoff hopes alive.
