’16 & Pregnant’ What Was Sean Garinger’s Cause Of Death?
Sean Garinger passed away in February. Now, the cause of death of the 16 & Pregnant alum has been revealed five months later. Here is what has been found.
Official Documents Reveal Sean Garinger’s Cause Of Death
According to documents from the Raleigh medical examiner’s office, Sean Garinger died as a result of a blunt force injury to the head. TMZ obtained the documents that showed that the 16 & Pregnant star’s skull was fractured in several places when he died.
The reality TV star shared two children, Dareli and Esmi, with Selena Guiterrez. His death was ruled accidental. At the time, he was driving an ATV at his home in Boone, North Carolina. The ATV flipped over and pinned him underneath.
His mother, Mary Hobbs, was with the 20-year-old at the time. “He was just moving [the ATV] from one parking spot to the next for me, so I could back in to park,” she said. “He pulled [in] front of me to park the ATV and the ground gave way from all the rain and mud.”
Mary said that she ran to get help from their neighbors, but no one answered. So, she ran back to the 16 & Pregnant star. “By that time, I realized he wasn’t alive anymore,” she said.
As she waited for the ambulance to arrive, Mary Hobbs said that she lay next to her son on the ground. “There was a huge part of my heart that died with my son. He was my only son, my rock, my strength when I had none left,” Mary shared. “Sean brightened my world in a way no one else could ever come close to. He was my baby boy, my squishy, my heartbeat.”
16 & Pregnant Stars Were No Longer Together When Sean Died
Sean Garinger came into the public eye when he appeared on Season 6 of 16 & Pregnant. The season first aired in March 2021. Sean and his girlfriend, Selena Guitierrez, had a long-distance relationship. Selena lived in Colorado, while Sean resided in North Carolina. At his time of death, the couple was not together.
Selena spoke out about her ex-boyfriend’s death. She said, “No matter the circumstances, that was my kids’ father. Not only was I with him for nine plus years, he was my first love, my first everything, and we had two beautiful daughters that I’ll always be grateful for.”
The couple wasn’t on “the best of terms” when Sean died, according to Selena. However, Selena said that he was “doing better” and that “he was over 200 days sober.”
Selena continued, “I know he was in school. He had gotten out of rehab and moved with his mom to Carolina. My heart aches for her.”
