WNBA Rookie Skips All-Star Kickoff for Summer League, Raising Eyebrows

Angel Reese throws shade at WNBA after SKIPPING opening All-Star event to watch NBA summer league – as Caitlin Clark, A’ja Wilson and Co hit the orange carpet

Angel Reese skipped the WNBA‘s orange-carpet event on Thursday night, as the Chicago Sky rookie chose to attend an NBA Summer League game instead – and offered a bizarre criticism of the WNBA.

Reese was selected to play in the WNBA All-Star Game this weekend, and the league marked the start of the weekend with a special event onsite in Phoenix.

However, while Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson were among those to get dressed up for the orange-carpet, Reese was an entire state away, taking in NBA Summer League action in Las VegasNevada.

She was previously spotted alongside Celtics star Jaylen Brown and his girlfriend (and fellow WNBA player) Kysre Gondrezick taking in a Lakers Summer League game earlier this week.

Reese was not trying to hide her whereabouts on Thursday as she posted a courtside selfie to her Instagram story.

She was also shown on TV, as she was seen chatting with a friend.

One fan criticized the Chicago Sky player, writing, ‘angel just pissed me off. your first all star event as a rookie and you still in vegas at a f*****g summer league game?????? good f*****g night man.’

Reese then responded, ‘it’s ok babe. i’m minding the business that PAYS me.’

It’s not clear why she would be paid for attending an NBA Summer League game.

In Phoenix, Clark, Wilson and other WNBA stars took to the orange-carpet two days before the WNBA All-Stars take on Team USA.

Clark, who was not selected for the Olympic roster, was nonetheless all smiles as she posed for pictures.

Las Vegas Aces star Wilson, who will be heading to Paris later this month, was also in good spirits as she wore a black lace dress.

Her Team USA teammates Britney Griner, Napheesa Collier and Kelsey Plum were also seen on the orange-carpet.

And so too were Sabrina Ionescu and Jackie Young, who will also be in Paris.

Other names like Dearica Hambry, Sophie Cunningham and college player Hailey Van Lith attended the event as well.

The WNBA All-Stars will take on Team USA on Saturday, before the Olympic squad jets off to Paris for the Olympics.
